CEFCO robber still at large

The Belton Police Department is still looking for an alleged robber who robbed a CEFCO convenience store on Jan. 20.

According to police, a man went into the CEFCO in the 900 block of East Central Avenue at about 5:45 a.m. The clerk had said the man came in, waved a handgun around and demanded money before running away.

The case is being handled by the criminal investigation division and Sgt. Larry Berg said they are hoping for some help from the public after posting the security footage on its Facebook page.

"We are hoping that will generate some hits, but we are still in the process of investigating and looking for some leads," Berg said.

Berg said investigators are still working with the original description of a black male and being medium to heavy build.

"It's tough because he was covered up," Berg said.

It was previously reported the timing of the robbery was similar to several in Temple. During those robberies, the suspects arrived early while the businesses were just opening or preparing to open for business or when customers were sparse.
