Tuesday, 05 February 2013 by Elissa Thompson
Owners D'Ann and Dane Legg are expanding their facility of Powerhouse Cheer and Fitness on 13th Ave near Summer Fun.
The new facility will be added on to their current space giving them another 6,000 square feet including parking.
"Mainly the extension is for more room for our after-school program, birthday parties, competitive cheer program, and our tot program," D'Ann Legg said.
Powerhouse currently offers a tumbling after-school program, cheer and power tumbling classes for all ages, tot mania, birthday parties, several programs for toddlers, competitive cheer, personal training, and flexibility and stunting.
Legg is positive that the new expansion will give more room for their athletes to train.
Powerhouse Cheer and Fitness currently has eight cheer teams with members who come from all over the Texas area.
"Our training facility is a highly competitive one. We have kids come from far away to be on our all-stars," Legg said.
The new facility will include another huge pit, eight in-ground trampolines, new pits, a second full-size spring floor, creative jumping trampolines, inflatables and new gymnastic equipment.
The gym offers an after-school program where kids can play on their equipment and practice their skills will the after-school coaches till the parents get off work. They will even pick up the kids from school.
The gym is open every Friday night from 6:30-8:30 for kids to come and play. It is open to the public.
And every 3rd Friday is parent's night out 6:30-11. Kids can come and play on the equipment or practice their skills then and tumble.
"It gives them a safe place to go on a Friday night," Legg said.
The expansion gives Powerhouse the chance to increase their programs and space for kids and athletes to train.
"We're just really excited that we are going to have more room and more space for our athletes to train. We just want to have more equipment for our kids to train on to be more competitive," Legg said.
