Archie Lee “Poppy” Guyer

Funeral services for Archie Lee "Poppy" Guyer, 71, of Salado were held at 10 a.m. Sat., Feb. 2, at Dossman Funeral Home in Belton. Burial will follow at Salado Cemetery.
Mr. Guyer died Wed., Jan. 30, in Temple.
He was born Sept. 24, 1941, in Temple, the son of Archie and Orpha Lee (Hill) Guyer. Archie Lee married his wife, Betty (Southern) Guyer June 23, 1961, in Speegleville, Texas. He has lived in the area for 44 years after moving from Waco. He is a Master Mason and a member of the Salado Masonic Lodge #296. He is also a member of the Church of Christ in Salado. After he owned and operated a family business, Hi-Way Auto Parts, for 45 years, he retired then worked as a Security Guard for the Belton High School. He loved sports, especially the Baylor Bears, and was instrumental in starting the Salado Little League and his greatest joys in life where traveling and his grandchildren.
He is preceded in death by his parents and one sister, Helen Atchley.
Survivors include his wife, Betty Guyer of Salado; one son, Kevin Guyer of Salado; one daughter, Kay Kelly of Salado; five grandchildren, Brittany, Stephanie, and Haley Guyer, Morgan and Chase Kelly; and one great-grandchild, Brodie Simmons.
In lieu of flowers, the family wishes to have books donated to the Southwest Elementary Library in Belton in his name.
