MPR mayor Jared Bryan not running for re-election

The Morgan's Point Resort City Council had several key points on the agenda for Tuesday night's meeting including elections.

Elections are now set for 2013 for five City Council Members and a mayor. Mayor Jared Bryan announced that he will not be running this term, stating that he would like to focus on his family.

James Arthur will be presiding as election judge, and the city has partnered with the Bell County Election Officer for the State of Texas for the purpose of conducting the General Elections.

City Council also approved the re-appointment of two members of the Zoning Commission, and approved a budget for the rehabilitation of water tower no. 1 on Morgan's Point Road. The water tower will be repainted in a two tone color scheme with the MPR logo on one side and 'Morgan's Point Resort' on the other.

Police Chief Fred Churchill presented the first annual presentation to the City Council, and thanked them for the ability to update the department including uniforms, vehicles, badges, computer systems, etc.
