Large Goodwill comes to Belton

Sometime this upcoming summer, a brand new Goodwill Store will be opening in Belton on Sparta Rd.

The grand opening will open up 20-25 new job opportunities.

"We're always looking to expand our services and have been wanting to build in Belton," Christina Taylor, Director of Marketing and Communications for Heart of Texas Goodwill Industries said. "We have looked in Belton often over the years and finally found a suitable place and with other developments in the area it has made it even more attractive for us to expand at this time."

This will be the 14th retail store and fourth Learning Center built under the Heart of Texas Goodwill services. All locations include a retail store and production area where donations are dropped off and then sorted to be sold. The estimated cost is $2.7 million and will be around 23,000 square feet. The store will be erected by Rocky Morgan Construction.

This location will be the same as the center located on 31st Street in Temple containing a retail store, learning center, and production area. The staff at the Learning Center will assist participants with job search, job placement, resume writing, interview skills/ techniques, appropriate self – presentation, and job retention. Basic computer courses will be offered as well as other employment skills related classes. Help is also offered for budget and personal financing. During tax season the learning center will serve as a VITA site (volunteer income tax assistance). Partnerships with local community colleges are hoping to be formed for continuing education departments to offer GED/ ESL courses.

"We have noted people from Belton coming to our learning centers programs and we wanted to offer our services in their community. Belton continues to grow and prosper and we really want to be a part of that."
