MPR Economic Development Committee approves projects

The Morgan's Point Resort Economic Development Corporation approved the support of several long and short term projects last week. The short term plans were improvements to improve at least one of five city parts by building a covered pavilion and improve signage by building city entry portals that wil include electronic signs.

The long term (3 – 5 years) planned project the EDC plans to support to improve or replace the community center and support plans to update the city's long range plan.

There was a public prior meeting on January 12 that was open to the public which was more of a brainstorm session where public input was not only welcome but sought out. From this meeting the EDC board of directors came up with a list of short term and long term plans.

"This is our second year and we operate on a shoestring budget of about $25,000 a year.

It has been a very positive we have trying to improve our community. Over time the citizens will appreciate the efforts being made whether you use the improvements or not. The EDC is her to enhance our community," said EDC President Tom Edwards.

With help from the Texas Parks and Wildlife there will be six paddling trails on Lake Belton with Kiosk at multiple places along the lake with maps and safety ideas. The paddling trails should be announced in March or April.
