Home, Garden Show hosts best event in three years

Home-Garden-ShowMore than 125 vendors filled the Expo Center over the weekend during the Temple Area Builders Association Home and Garden Show. Anyone looking for the latest and greatest in helping them spruce up their homes, lawns or gardens likely found everything they needed for the upcoming spring season at the 38th Annual Temple Area Builders Association Home and Garden Show last weekend.

For three days, the Bell County Expo Center was filled with patrons browsing the more than 125 booths that included everything from knives to tractors.

"Saturday was probably the best day we've had in at least three years," TABA Executive Officer Cheryl Hunka said. "A lot of business has been transacted out here this weekend."

Vendors showcased their goods to the public and the public was able to not only get information on new products, but also to purchase the products.

According to Hunka, the event took up about 85,000 square feet and more than 5,000 people came out to the Expo Center throughout the weekend.

"I think it's a sign of economy and a lot of people came out because of that," Hunka said.

Hunka said the availability of products and services was extraordinary.

"It gives everybody a chance to get ready for the spring," Hunka said. "People get to see what the new plants are, what new products are out there and there is a big concentration on saving energy as well.

"There was something out there for everybody, whether you needed a knife or a tractor or flooring."

Hunka also said the annual Home and Garden Show also gives the County a big boost economically.

"It's a good income generator for the county because the vendors come from all over," Hunka said. "We had some from Florida, California, Oklahoma and from all over the state of Texas."
