Boys golf team dominates H.O.T. Classic

WACO-The Belton High School boys golf team is in stride and District 8-5A is on notice.

Belton's Tiger One and Tiger Two flights took the top overall positions at the Heart of Texas Golf Classic held at the Cottonwood Creek Golf Club in Waco last weekend. The two teams finished by a combined margin of 49 shots over third place Waco Midway.

Andrew Paysse individually led the tournament with a 73, earning him top medalist honors. Paysse, Nick Ratliff (76) and Kyle Revis (77) combined to give the Tigers a Big Red sweep of the top three positions. Paysse, Ratliff, Revis, Preston Parker (80), CJ Norton (81), Zach Plunk and Matthew Lawyer (each with 83) combined to give Belton seven of the 10 All-Tournament honors.

Hunter Mattson (87), Ty Barber (92) and Brock Ratliff (94) shot well for the Tigers.

All four Tiger flights will be in tournament action over the next 10 days. Tiger One and Tiger Two will be hitting the courses of StoneTree in Killeen and Mill Creek in Salado for the Salado Big Eagle Invitational. Tiger Four will participate at the Leander Spring Classic at Crystal Falls Golf Course in Leander on March 5. Tiger Two and Tiger Three will play of the Cedar Creek Spring Invitational at Wolfdancer Country Club in Cedar Creek on March 6. The District 8-5A Tournament will be at StoneTree in Killeen on April 8-9.
