Obituaries

Russell A. Newbury

Russell Albert Newbury, 85, of Belton died Sept. 21 at his home. Graveside services were at 10 a.m. Sept. 25 in North Belton Cemetery with Dr. Leroy Kemp officiating.

Mr. Newbury was born in Newbury, Ohio March 11, 1926 to Russell Albert and Bertha Mae (Neeburr) Newbury. He served in the United States Army from May 26, 1944 to Dec.1, 1965. He married Dorothy Mae Heard April 20, 1968 in Belton. He worked with the Belton Fire Department until retirement Sept.12, 1988. He was a member of the First Christian Church.

He is survived by a son, Floyd Owens of Abilene; two daughters, Darlene Carter of Granbury and Jean Brown of Taveres. Fla., a sister, Lillie Lowery of Killeen, eight grandchildren, 15 great-grandchildren and five great-great-grandchildren.

Heartfield Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
