Belton High School had seven Commended Students in the 2012 National Merit Scholarship Program. Commended students were: Freeman Brunaugh, Hadley Young, Austin Jordan, Lauren Trotter and Dallas Jordan. Two of the Commended students were also designated as National Hispanic Scholars, with two other students receiving Honorable Mention designation, including Hispanic Scholar Honorable Mention Luciano Rocero and Alberto Garner; Hispanic Scholars and Commended Students Easton Robles and Shannon Rice.
Belton ISD students raised almost $7,500 for United Way during the United Way Spirit Chain Kids Campaign the week of Sept. 26-30.
