The Gin to help raise awareness for breast cancer

The Gin in Belton and Susan G. Komen for the Cure – Central Texas® recently announced "The Gin for Susan G. Komen" awareness event to raise funding and help drive awareness in the fight against breast cancer.

The event will be Oct. 22 from 6-10 p.m. and includes a concert featuring Touch of Class Trio on the pavilion, raffles and prizes. This is a family friendly event so all are invited to participate.

Breast cancer is a widespread disease, striking women and men of all ages and races.

It is the most prevalent cancer in the world today, with about 1.3 million people diagnosed annually.

The exact cause is unknown, and at this time, there is no cure. But there is hope through foundations like Susan G. Komen for the Cure. Through heightened awareness, early detection through screening, and increased access to breast health services, people have a greater chance of survival than ever before.

The Central Texas community is invited to the event to be held at The Gin – 219 S. East Street, located in downtown Belton. Raffle tickets are available at all retailers located in The Gin – The Woodhouse Day Spa, Brickwood Boutique, The Weigh Station, Coronas De Oro, and The Gin at Nolan Creek.

Donations can be given at The Woodhouse Day Spa.

All proceeds of the event will be given to Susan G. Komen for the Cure – Central Texas®.

About Susan G. Komen for the Cure®

Nancy G. Brinker promised her dying sister, Susan G. Komen, she would do everything in her power to end breast cancer forever. In 1982, that promise became Susan G. Komen for the Cure and launched the global breast cancer movement. Today, Komen for the Cure is the world's largest grassroots network of breast cancer survivors and activists fighting to save lives, empower people, ensure quality care for all and energize science to find the cures. Thanks to events like the Komen Race for the Cure® and Komen 3-Day for the Cure®, the foundation has invested more than $1.9 billion to fulfill the promise, becoming the largest source of nonprofit funds dedicated to the fight against breast cancer in the world.
