DBMA Market Days set for this Saturday
Thursday, 20 October 2011 by Berneta Peeples
Saturday, Oct. 15, is Market Day in the Historic Downtown Belton Business District.
Saturday is also the fourth annual Fall Festival and Saturday Night Street Dance.
The free to the public dance begins at dark. Back Roads Band plays for the dance at the intersection of Central Ave. and East St.
The usual fall decorations of bales of hay and fall flowers are in place in the business district.
Vendors will set up along Central Ave. from Main to Penelope and on S. East St. and Water St. if necessary from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m., according to Erma Elser, vendor reservations chairman.
Early this week vendor registration was around the 50 mark. With predicted better weather conditions, registration is expected to increase.
"As usual, vendors without reservations are urged to come anyway, and we will find a spot for you", Elser said.
To make reservations, call Elser at Trends & Treaures, (254) 933-8332 or www.downtownbelton.com, click on Market Day for application.
Market Days is the downtown restoration project started four year ago by owners/manager of antique stores in the old business area, and Cochran, Blair & Potts, Texas' oldest family owned and operated department store.
Market Days is sponsored by the City of Belton.
Store owners meet vendors on the city parking lot around 5 a.m. to unload and set up their booth.
Store owners are there at 4 p.m. to help them load out.
