Obituaries

Brian R. Garney

Brian R. Garney, 78, died at his home in Nolanville Oct. 10. Memorial services were at 6 p.m. Oct. 14 at Heartfield Funeral Home with Pastor Jim Carpenter officiating.

Mr. Garney was born in Lowell, Mass. Jan. 10, 1933 to Emery and Clarice (Carkin) Garney. He graduated from Bridgewater High School where he was in the Navy Reserve Program in 1951. He was a member of the 4H Gun Club. He served in the US Air Force from 1951-59 serving in Guam during the Korean Conflict. He reached the rank of staff sergeant E5. He retired from the Belton Water Department after 13 years. He also served as General Manager, Maintenance. He was supervisor and board member of the Pepper Creek Water System. He attended the First Baptist Church in Harker Heights. Nov. 12, 2008 he married Hwacha Yi in Killeen.

He was preceded in death by his first wife, Merlene; two sons, Steven E. Garney and James M. Trest, and one brother, Richard Garney.

He is survived by his wife, Hwacha Garney of Nolanville; two sons, Jeffrey Garney of Maine and Jared Garney of Massachusetts, four daughters, Ruth Wilson of Belton, Jennifer MaNally and Rachel Cossingham of of Massachsetts, and Janet Fuller of Belton; two sisters, Carolyn Turney of Maryland, and Susan Gamache of Quebec, 13 grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren.

Heartfield Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
