Harvel H. “Butch” Bottoms, Jr.

Harvel H. "Butch" Bottoms, Jr. 57 died Friday, October 28, 2011, at his home in Belton. Funeral services were held on Monday, October 31, 2011, at Dossman Funeral Home in Belton, with Pastor Mike Meadows officiating.

Inurnment was held at the Central Texas State Veterans Cemetery in Killeen, Wednesday, November 2 at 2 pm. The family received friends for visitation from 6:00 to 8:oo pm. On Sunday, October 30 at the funeral home.

Mr. Bottoms was born July 9, 1954, in Cherry Point, NC, the son of Harvel H. Sr. and Lizzie Marie Hatcher Bottoms. He married his loving wife, Kathy Taegel Bottoms, March 30, 1979 in Belton.

He served his country in the United States Marine Corps from 1973 until 1975. He has lived in central Texas all his life and attended Miller Heights Baptist Church with his family. Mr. Bottoms was an avid outdoorsman and a great father, husband and friend.

His parents and one sister, Diana Bottoms, precede him in death.

Survivors include his loving wife; two sons, Jeffery Lynn and James Thomas Bottoms; one daughter, Amanda Kathleen Bottoms; three brothers, George Lee, Jerry Wayne, and Ray Charles Bottoms; four sisters, Ida Marie Cross, Cynthia Ann Allen, Mary Diane Karl, Kay Carol; and nine grandchildren.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorials be made to the American Cancer Society, P.O. Box 22718 Oklahoma City, OK 73123-1718.

Dossman Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
