Texell Credit Union honored for lending practices
Monday, 05 December 2011 by Keith Bahlmann
Texell Credit Union was recently honored for their lending practices at CUNA (Credit Union National Association) Mutual Group's Excellence in Lending Awards at the CUNA Lending Council's annual conference. Texell was one of only five credit unions, and the only credit union in Texas, to receive this honor.
"A record 50 credit unions were nominated for the annual awards and they were all quality applicants," stated Dan Murray, Vice President of CUNA Mutual Group. "It's a credit to the ingenuity and resiliency of our winners to achieve this kind of success during times of high unemployment, a poor housing market and low consumer sentiment."
"Texell is honored to receive this award from CUNA Mutual," Tony Hale, President and CEO of Texell Credit Union stated. "Texell's member service and lending teams work hard to ensure that we meet the needs of our membership and the Central Texas community, and we feel this award is a reflection of those efforts. At Texell, it is our goal to make loans accessible and affordable for our existing members and the communities we serve, while maintaining Texell's safety and soundness," Hale continued.
All credit unions affiliated with CUNA in the United States are eligible for the award.
The award is given to select credit unions whose lending process is determined to be superior in the following three categories: strategy, programs and performance.
Texell Credit Union is a not-for-profit financial cooperative serving more than 28,000 members throughout Central Texas.
Texell was founded in 1948 and membership is open to anyone who lives, works, worships or attends school in Bell County.
Texell has three locations in Temple, one in Belton and one in Killeen.
