Obituaries

Oren Jackson

Oren C. "O.C." Jackson, 98, of Belton died Nov. 17. Funeral services were at 10 a.m. Nov. 19 at Dossman Funeral Home Chapel with Minister Joe Baisden officiating. Burial was in McDowell Cemetery.

Mr. Jackson was born in Belton July 23, 1913 to Berry and Myrtle (Shelton) Jackson. He was a 1930 graduate of Nolanville High School and married Jessie Adams Oct. 6 1934 in Rochelle.

They moved to Houston in 1938 where he worked as a builder. He built homes and churches including the Lindale Church of Christ where he served as a deacon for many years. They moved to Belton in 1972 where he continued his work as a builder. This included a real estate development around Lake Belton. He served as a deacon of the Belton Church of Christ, where he was a member, and taught a Sunday School Class. He participated in the church prison ministry and was a member of the Bell County Sportsman's Club.

He was preceded in death by two brothers, Paul Jackson and Homer Jackson and one great-grandchild.

He is survived by his wife, Jessie Jackson of Belton; two sons, Joe Jackson of Houston and James Jackson of Belton; one daughter, Mary Kemp of Chapel Hill, N.C., seven grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.

Memorials may be made to the Belton Church of Christ.

Dossman Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
