Obituaries

James R. Wilbanks

James (Jimmy/Jim) R. Wilbanks, 70, of McKinney, formerly of Belton, died Dec. 8. Funeral services were at 2 p.m Dec. 10 at Dossman Funeral Home in Belton with Minister Joe Baisden officiating. Burial was in North Belton Cemetery.

Mr. Wilbanks was born May 27, 1941 to Wilma Garner and DeLay Hiram Wilbanks in Belton. He attended Belton Public schools, where he was active in several sports and was captain of the 1958 Belton High School football team. After graduating in 1959 he attended North Texas State University, earning a BA in business in 1963. He served four years in the United States Marine Corps, attaining the rank of captain. He worked for St. Regis Paper Co. in Dallas for a number of years and for Frito Lay, Inc., in Plano for 20 years, retiring in 2000.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

He is survived by his wife of 40 years, Sue Griffin Wilbanks; a daughter, Amanda Duncan of McKinney; two brothers, Robert Wilbanks of Denver, Colo., and Dr. William Wilbanks of Sun City (Georgetown) and two grandchildren.
