Burn ban lifted

E-mail Print PDF

Bell County Commissioners Court voted Tuesday morning to lift the burn ban imposed last week until July 12. The matter will be discussed at the 9 a.m. meeting of the court next Monday.

Bell County Fire Marshal Steve Casey said the ground may hold moisture for a week. Commissioner Tim Brown of Salado emphasized "it can dry out pretty fast and we don't need any brush fires."

The court approved a plan for Central Jail visitation. Under this plan, all visits will be electronic, with visitors at the Loop Jail and screen contact with inmates of the Central Jail. Judge Jon Burrows explained this will save manpower and renovations in the downtown jail.
