Bill Cawthon

Bill Cawthon, 80, of Waco, long time Belton resident, died Jan. 13 in a Waco hospital.

Memorial services were at 10 a.m. Jan. 16 at Dossman Funeral Home with Dr. Leroy Kemp officiating.

Mr. Cawthon was born Feb. 21, 1931 in Littlefield, the son of Roy and Lura Mae (Clark) Cawthon. He married Joan Polk in 1951 in Belton. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army and was a member of the Belton Lions Club for many years. He retired from Texas Power & Light Co. after 34 years of service. He was a member of the First Baptist Church of Belton. He was preceded in death by a son, Charles Polk Cawthon.

He is survived by his wife of 60 years, Joan (Polk) Cawthon of Waco, one son, Matt Cawthon and wife Shelly of Waco, one brother

Jon Cawthon and wife, Allyson of Brenham, one sister, Cleta Bennett of Waco, five grandchildren, and one great granddaughter.

Dossman Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.

Memorials may be made to the Bell County Museum, 201 N. Main St., Belton, TX 76513.
