Dr. Winston Lee Kinsey

Dr. Winston Lee Kinsey, former Salado resident, of Deep Gap, N.C., died Jan. 9 at his home. Services were at 2 p.m. Jan. 13 at the First Baptist Church in Boone, N.C. Burial was at Mount Lawn Parks and Memorial Gardens.
Dr. Kinsey was born in Lampasas March 7, 1943, the son of Roy and Loretta Jernigan Kinsey of Salado.
He graduated from Salado High School and received his Ph.D. from Texas Tech University.
He taught at Appalachian State University for 35 years and was dean of the College of Arts and Science. He was Watauga County Commissioner for six years. A member of the First Baptist Church, he served as a deacon and was a Sunday school teacher. He was a member of Ashlar Masonic Lodge #373.
He was preceded in death by a son, Winston Scott Kinsey, and his parents.
He is survived by his wife, Barbara Bone Kinsey, two daughters, Tricia Kinsey Masters and husband, David Masters MD of Lenoir, NC, and Robyn Kinsey Mooring and husband Dewey of Durham, N.C., four grandchildren, two brothers, Dr. Nolan Kinsey of Salado and Travis Kinsey of Moody and an aunt, Shirley Jernagin Townsend and husband Weldon of Round Rock.
