BISD choirs showcase talent

Leon Heights Honor Choir, composed of fourth and fifth graders, will be in concert on Monday, Feb. 9 at the BHS Performing Arts Center at 7 p.m. This is the advance concert of the performance that they will give at the Texas Music Educators Association State Convention on Thursday, Feb. 9 at 11:30 a.m. at the Henry B. Gonzalez Convention Center in San Antonio. Many months have gone into preparation for this concert with funds raised through poinsettia sales before Christmas and pickle sales after school on Fridays. Dr. Susan Kincannon, Belton ISD Superintendent, will introduce the choir prior to the concert in San Antonio.
Auditions were held Saturday, Jan. 21 at Temple High School for the Region 8 Middle School Choir. More than 900 students auditioned. Seven Belton Middle School students were selected: L-R (7th Grade) Rilee Schroeder; (8th Grade) Audrey Linder, Ben Holcomb, Kyle Winters, John Farek, Claire Woodson, Kosey Walenberg.
Six Lake Belton Middle School students were selected including one alternate: (8th Grade) Jeran Dermody, Ashley Williams, Dharma Saiz, Megan Taylor, Breyanna York, (Not pictured)Jasmine Peng; (7th Grade, Alternate)Jacob Wallin.
