Ladies cruise in win over Cove

Ladies-cruiseIt took some time and Copperas Cove hung in there for nearly a half but eventually the Lady Tigers wore down their defense in a 7-0 win at Wilson Kerzee Field

Midfielders Bekah Rush and Kat Parker dominated the game. Rush took an early shot on goal and Bailey Boren off a steal in midfield passed to Roxanne Reichl who setup an early corner kick.

Allison Herrington had a stop on defense. Hadley Young set up Reichl twice near the 25-minute mark. Jacey Love had several stops on defense and her long balls were accurate and created scoring opportunities. Madi Goldston hit the game winning goal with 17:26 left in the first half to make it 1-0. Jamie Brown had a shot blocked and Goldston set up a corner kick.

Young beat four players but was stopped and Love got the clear and fired it back to Young who scored to make it 2-0. Brown set up a corner kicked.

Brown set up Ashley Winkler who scored to make it 3-0 with 7:30 left in the first. Winkler stopped Brown's crossing pass and turned and fired in the corner past a diving goalie.

Jessie Hagen's shot was just high to end the half.

Young scored one-on-one to make it 4-0 to start the second half. Rush set up Young with 27:24 left to make it 5-0. Reichl scored to make it 67-0 with 26:17 left. Rush scored to make it 7-0 with 20:42 left. Brown scored to make it 8-0 with 4:21 left.

The Lady Tigers brought a variety of scoring players from the midfield in a ball moving clinic. They controlled the midfield and what did get past was quickly shut down by the defense. Lady Tigers goalie Emily Jarrett made a great second half save to seal the shutout. Belton was without three years starter Jamie Boone who was rested. Boone plays forward opposite of Young.

The Lady Tigers who have terrorized teams in 12-5A for nearly a decade continued the trend with a 5-0 win over Harker Heights. Scoring for Belton were Parker-2, and Aubrey Martinez.
