New skate shop opens close to high school

The official grand opening of Brigade Skate took place on Tuesday at 511 Lake Rd. Suite 105.

The owners of the new establishment, Phil and Jamie Hearn, were excited about the prospect of providing a new place for the skating community to come and enjoy.

Brigade Skate is a private company categorized under skateboards and equipment and is expected to offer youth another source of fun in the area.

The new store will primarily sell clothing and will also provide skateboards and roller derby apparel.

According to Hearn, there was a need in the community to promote skate boarding, which is very popular at Belton High.

"We know that kids love to skate and we wanted to find a way for them to continue their passion," Hearn said. "So we opened this shop to give the kids an opportunity to shine and be who they are.

"We hope to provide a good wholesome environment and have a positive impact on the community."

Hearn plans to organize several skating events and get the neighborhood involved.

Jamie Hearn stated that one of the objectives of the company is to promote safe skate boarding by educating customers on the importance of safety.

"This is a great start," said Jamie who was excited about the grand opening. "We can't wait for kids to come and enjoy what we have available here."
