l sportswriter Tony Adams was named 2025 Lonestar State Collegiate Softball League Broadcaster of the Year by staff, coaches, and players of the organization at Taylor-Sanders Field at Southwestern University in Georgetown. The LSCL, which falls under the fourleague American College League, is a college softball showcase league that helps players hone their skills and, in some cases, aids players that are in the transfer portal in finding new collegiate homes. The players range from incoming freshmen to seniors. Adams broadcasted 37 games for the LSCL between June 12 and July 12. “It was an honor. Andrew Haynes and I combined for 80 games at the tournament. Andrew did half, and I did the other half. I was very surprised. The award ceremony was before the championship game,” said Adams. Between his multiple duties in The Belton Journal sports department and Sports Information Director position at Temple College, Adams has broadcasted nearly 400 games in baseball, softball, men’s basketball, women’s basketball, and volleyball combined at multiple levels since February 2023. The total includes games for Temple College, Lonestar State Collegiate League, NJCAA Region V Athletics, Central Texas Sports Network, Belton Youth Baseball Association, Belton Youth Softball Association, 3MT Sports, and Tony Adams Sports Media, which independently audio streams Tigers and Broncos baseball and softball games. Adams, in his second stint with the Journal, has been as a sports editor, writer, and photographer for the newspaper and Belton community for 12 years.
