Big week for Tiger Baseball leading up to playoffs

The Belton Tigers baseball team continued its District 16-5A schedule on Friday and Tuesday, as they hosted Ellison and Waco at Tidwell Field.
Tigers’ patient plate approaches led to a 13-run second inning, eight-run fourth inning, and seven Eagle errors that led to 14 unearned runs as Belton run-ruled Ellison in five innings, 23-1.
Jacob Quigley led the Tigers with five runs batted in, Trey Garcia had three runs batted in and four runs scored, Will Shepard scored four times, and Oakley Torres added three hits.
Quigley pitched four innings for the win, as he pitched four innings, allowed a run on three hits, struck out ten and walked two.
Billy Young pitched an inning in relief, allowed one hit and struck out three.
On Tuesday, Belton scored in all four offensive innings as the Tigers shut out Waco in four-and-a-half innings, 13-0.
Garcia had three RBI, Gage Flores had two runs batted in, and Pecos Smith scored three times in the win.
Cole Heisler pitched a four-hit shutout over five innings, struck out nine and walked two in the win.
At the conclusion of Tuesday night’s action, Lake Belton is 9-0, Belton is 6-3, Chaparral and University are 5-4, Waco High is 2-7, and Ellison is 0-9.
District 15-5A, 16-5A’s bi-district playoff partner, have one game left in district play.
Their standings: Midlothian Heritage (11-2), Midlothian (10-3), Corsicana (9-4), Red Oak and Ennis (7-6), Kaufman (5-8), Crandall (3-10), and Terrell (0-13).
The Tigers end the regular season against the Lions on Friday at the Waco ISD Complex.
