The Lake Belton Broncos boys’ soccer team is preparing for a tough challenge as they open their UIL 5A State Playoff campaign at Midway Panthers Stadium this Thursday. The Broncos will face off against the Midlothian Panthers, the defending state champions, in the first round of the playoffs. This marks a significant moment for the Broncos, who are making their third playoff appearance since their debut season in 2020. After finishing a 3-6-1 district record, the Broncos secured the fourth and final playoff spot in District 19-5A. Despite a tough regular season, including three consecutive losses, Lake Belton is determined to put its best foot forward against one of the state’s top teams. Midlothian enters the matchup with a stellar 10-1-3 district record and is riding a five-game win streak. The Panthers have been dominant all season, showing why they are considered favorites to defend their state title. Midlothian boasts a well-rounded squad with offensive firepower and a strong defensive backline, which has helped it remain a top contender in the state. For the Broncos, the task ahead is daunting.
