Lake Belton’s 5-4 victory over Rouse last week was more than just another win, it was the one that pushed the Broncos into the Texas High School Baseball Coaches Association’s Top 10 in Class 5A.
Offensively, the Broncos came out swinging.
Cam Bartz went a perfect 2-for-2 with a home run, a double, one RBI, and scored twice. Logan Winkler added a solo homer of his own, while Cooper Mees drove in two runs with a clutch base hit.
Speed on the basepaths played a role as well, with Braxtan Cope swiping two bags while going 2-for-3 at the plate. RJ Hunt delivered the game-winning RBI to cap off the scoring.
On the mound, the pitching staff kept Rouse in check late. Kellen Scarborough sealed the win with a dominant seventh inning, striking out all three batters he faced to earn the save.
The Broncos now sit at 17-4-2 and are carrying serious momentum into their next district series against Chaparral. Game 1 is set for Tuesday night at Bronco Ballpark, and with their bats hot, Lake Belton looks every bit the part of a top-tier 5A contender.
