All of LaVaughn’s family, cousins, in-laws, friends, neighbors, and colleagues would agree that she was a gracious lady who would always reach out and keep everyone connected
and celebrated. She was a generous gift-giver to all and blessed so many with her smile and hugs. She was the “keeper of the pictures and memorabilia for friends and family alike. She was known for planning, decorating, and hosting all kinds of parties at home, church groups, and community (family, friends, and organizations). LaVaughn enjoyed reading, crocheting, and traveling. Until her eyesight diminished, she would read both hard copy and digital books and articles. Among other projects, she was able to crochet or knit afghans for all her children, grandchildren, and greatgrandchildren. She and her husband enjoyed many travels through their 69 years of marriage in the United States and abroad. She enjoyed her bell collection that represented many of her vacations and avocations. Some of LaVaughn’s favorites included Western movies and TV series, going out to eat, chocolate meringue pies, chocolatecandy with nuts, and orange slice candies. According to her daughter she made the “the best meatloaf ever.” A time of visitation will be held with friends and family at Harper-Talasek Funeral Home in Belton Thursday, March 6, 2025, from 3:00 p.m. – 5:00 p.m. Graveside services will be held at 9:00 am Friday, March 7 at Central Texas State Veterans Cemetery in Killeen. “Satisfy us in the morning with your unfailing love, that we may sing for joy and be glad all our days” Psalm 90:14
