Lakewood Elementary named Capturing Kids’ Hearts® National Showcase School

For the second year in a row, Lakewood Elementary has been honored as a Capturing Kids’ Hearts® National Showcase School—a prestigious recognition awarded to campuses that excel in creating safe, supportive and engaging learning environments.

The award highlights schools across the country that are making a measurable impact on student achievement and school culture

through relational, student-centered practices. At Lakewood, staff have embraced the Capturing Kids’ Hearts® Process to build strong relationships and create a positive climate where students feel connected and supported.

“This recognition is a tribute to the heart and dedication our staff pours into our students every day,” said Christy Chandler, principal of Lakewood Elementary. “At Lakewood, we believe relationships are the foundation for learning and our team works hard to ensure each and every child feels known, supported, and loved.”

Schools selected as National Showcase Schools are evaluated through survey feedback, campus observations and performance data that reflect growth in student engagement, achievement and overall campus culture.

Belton ISD is proud of Lakewood Elementary’s continued commitment to transforming lives through connection, compassion and a culture of excellence.
