Public Hearings
Two public hearings were held during the meeting. The first concerned a carport variance request for 160 Lake Forest Drive, and the second addressed budget amendments.
The carport variance request had been discussed during the workshop. After further review, building officials measured the structure and determined that it was already in compliance, meaning a variance was not necessary.
The budget amendment addressed recognizing revenue and expenditures for fiscal year 2025 and carrying forward revenue and expenditures in multiple operating funds from fiscal year 2025. The budget amendments and carryforward were approved.
Council Resolutions
The council considered 10 resolutions, including the one connected to the public hearing. All resolutions were approved. The meeting minutes will be presented for approval at the January council meeting.
The first resolution addressed the carport variance request for 160 Lake Forest Drive.
The second resolution involved appointing members to the Planning and Zoning Commission. The three applicants were Andrew Roberts, Maria Martinez, and Christopher Walker, who will serve as an alternate.
The council also approved authorizing the city manager to enter into a contract for the purchase of a Caterpillar 60-kilowatt diesel generator for the Public Safety Center.
Additional Approvals
Council members approved a septic system at 16 Archer, issuing a variance due to the lot size not meeting the Morgan’s Point Resort ordinance requirement of one-half acre.
Another septic system at 95 Buena Vista Drive was approved along with a variance for the same lot size requirement.
The council also approved:
An accessory building variance at 3 West Aztec
A replat, trailer use, and new building at 18 Mustang Drive in Belton
Other Business
The council accepted the resignation of a library board member and declared the position vacant.
Members also approved changes to authorized representatives for the City of Morgan’s Point Resort at Horizon Bank.
In addition, the council adopted an investment policy in accordance with Texas Government Code Chapters 2256 and 2257, which govern the Public Funds Investment Act and the Public Funds Collateral Act.
Closing
The finance director and city manager provided updates before the meeting was adjourned into executive session for discussion of personnel matters and real property.
The next city council workshop will be held Jan. 13 at 5 p.m., followed by the regular meeting at 6 p.m.
