The Broncos and Lady Broncos tennis team has a busy weekend ahead as they prepare to play three matches.
Lake Belton opens by traveling to Robinson on Friday for a 4 p.m. start. Then, on Saturday, it plays at China Spring and Waco Midway at 8:30 a.m. and 1 p.m., respectively.
FOOTBALL
Preparations for the upcoming football season will begin in just days for countless teams across the state.
University Interscholastic League rules permit teams that did not participate in spring training to begin workouts earlier this week. Belton and Lake Belton, however, took part in spring training, so each squad can begin conditioning Monday.
The first day the Tigers and Broncos can don pads and have full contact is Aug. 16.
Both teams have a scrimmage set for Aug. 21, with Belton hosting Killeen Shoemaker and Lake Belton traveling to Copperas Cove. Each scrimmage will start at 7 p.m.
The regular-season schedule kicks off Aug. 29, when the Tigers play at Pflugerville Hendrickson and the Broncos play at College Station A&M Consolidated.
BELTON BOOSTER
The Belton Tigers Athletic Booster Club has scheduled its Meet the Tiger event for Aug. 16 at 6 p.m.
NEW TECH TENNIS
After several weeks of practice, the Dragons and Lady Dragons open their district schedule today, traveling to Liberty Hill Legacy Ranch. Play begins at 4:30 p.m.
NEW TECH CROSS COUNTRY
The Dragons and Lady Dragons began their preparations for the upcoming season Monday, when they conducted their first practice. The runners encountered some rain during the session, but it did not prevent them from participating.
New Tech is approximately two weeks away from opening their schedule at the Belton Invitational on Aug. 22. The event will be held at the Belton Lake & Outdoor Recreation Area at 7:30 a.m.
The host Tigers and Lady Tigers will also be competing at the event.
ATHLETIC PASSES
Belton ISD family passes are on sale for $75 and can be purchased at the Belton High School field house or at the Belton ISD administration office.
The pass allows the owner and all immediate family members entry into any Belton ISD athletic event played at home, excluding football games.
