The swimming programs from Belton High School and Lake Belton High School are making waves as they send swimmers to the UIL 5A State Championship Meet.
These talented swimmers have spent the season pushing their limits, and now they can showcase their skills on the biggest stage in Texas high school swimming.
Lake Belton will be well represented at the state championship meet, with five swimmers earning their spots.
Christine Kim is leading the way, having delivered podium performances at regionals and finishing second in the 50-yard and 100-yard Freestyle. Her speed in the water secured her a state qualification in both events.
Kim will also be a key part of the Broncos’ 400-yard Freestyle Relay team, joining Gwen Clark, Elizabeth Simeroth, and Brooke Phillips as they look to make an impact in their event.
Additionally, David Stewart will compete in the 100-yard and 200-yard Freestyle, bringing more depth to Lake Belton’s lineup at state.
Belton High School is also sending five swimmers to the state meet, highlighted by a mix of individual and relay competitions.
Liliana Nelson will have a busy schedule, qualifying in four different events, including an automatic qualification in the 500- yard Freestyle after finishing as the regional runner-up. She also earned a state call-up for the 200- yard Freestyle, 200-yard Freestyle Relay, and 400-yard Freestyle Relay.
Joining Nelson in the relays are Olivia Brillhart, Mackenzie (Zee) Gingerich, and Ema Whitzel, all of whom earned state call-ups for their performances in the 200-yard and 400-yard Freestyle Relays. Addison Richardson will also compete in the 500-yard Freestyle after claiming the regional title, securing her automatic qualification.
Kirra Martin and Sophia Detert will also serve as alternates for the Tigers’ relay teams, ready to step in if needed.
With a potent mix of individual talent and relay depth, both Belton ISD programs have high hopes heading into the state meet. These swimmers have trained for this moment, and now they can compete against the best in Texas, proudly representing their schools and community. The UIL 5A State Championship Meet will be a test of endurance, speed, and determination, and the Broncos and Tigers are ready to rise to the occasion.
