The Belton Tigers volleyball team
had the opportunity to play a pre-district tournament close to home this past weekend against solid competition.
The Tigers took part in the 2025 Little River Academy Tournament, located
at Academy High School and Academy
Middle School.
Belton played six matches, and won
all six while just dropping one game, to
capture the tournament championship.
On Thursday, the Tigers played in
Pool B of the tournament at Academy
Middle School.

Belton defeated Moody 25-11 and 25-17 in the opening of pool play. CJ Stites had a handful of kills for the Tigers, as they used smart play up front and good, aerial ball movement to establish dominance over the Bearcats.
The Tigers took on the Robinson Rockets to finish pool action.
Belton endured several Robinson rallies, and forced several key mistakes to defeat the Rockets, 25-17 and 25-21.
Brylee Renegar, Malu Pula, Miley Davila and Landry Duggan stepped up to help the Tigers’ success in the Thursday pool.
“I was proud of the way they played in both games,” Belton assistant coach Jayna Parker said. “They moved the ball around well, and made very few mistakes.”
On Friday, the Tigers played in the top pool against Little River Academy and Shoemaker in the newest edition of The Hive, which opened in the fall of 2024.
Belton went three rounds with the hosts and outlasted the Bumblebees, 2-1.
The final game on Friday pitted the Tigers against Killeen Shoemaker.
The Tigers cut the Grey Wolves off from any momentum and swept Shoemaker, 2-0. The scores of the contest were 25-13 and 25-9.
In the Saturday tournament semifinal, the Tigers played a rematch against Robinson.
The Rockets gave the Tigers a test late, but Belton held off the late push to sweep Robinson. The scores of the match were 25-15 and 27-25.
The win set up the tournament final between Belton and Gatesville.
Tigers played an excellent match where the rotations communicated harmoniously in a 2-0 sweep of the Hornets. Scores of the championship match were 25-17 and 25-22.
Stites and Davila were named to the All-Tournament Team, with Stites having earned her second All-tournament Team honor of the season.
