Owners and Nurse Practitioners Erika Mendoza and Whitney Bremer hosted an open house for Glow Theory Academy on Dec. 19.
The academy is located at 204 N. Penelope St., Unit F1, in downtown Belton. From 6 p.m. to 8 p.m., attendees had the opportunity to meet the staff, fill out applications, and tour the campus.
Makenna Peace, didactic instructor, and Sadie Grote, student services coordinator and dean, greeted families, assisted with applicant questions, and provided tours of the facility. Guests were able to meet the entire team and view the academy’s classrooms and lab spaces.
Currently, the esthetician course includes instruction in waxing, makeup, skincare, anatomy, and more. The academy uses Milady Standard Esthetics as its curriculum.
“In a few months,” Grote said, “a lash program will be offered.”
The upcoming program will follow the Milady Lash Extension Training curriculum.
Students in the aesthetics program attend classroom instruction two days a week, where they learn course material and take tests and exams. The other two days are dedicated to lab work. The academy features two lab rooms.
The spa room is used for practicing facial treatments and brow lamination. Black curtains separate each spa table, and robes are provided for models. The wax room includes a pink-covered table where students practice facials and hair removal techniques. This room is also used for training in IVs and injectables.
Interested guests completed applications for the academy’s Jan. 5 class start date. Applications are accepted on a continuous basis, and new students may begin training each month.
Advanced courses in medical aesthetics for licensed medical professionals are also coming soon. These courses will include training in laser treatments, IV hydration, dermal fillers, and more.
Refreshments at the open house included trays of cheese, fruit, vegetables, and salami, as well as donuts, cupcakes, cake pops, Cheetos, croissant sandwiches, and wraps.
