Guadalupe “Lupe” Gonzalez
August 9, 1948 — May 31, 2025
Guadalupe “Lupe” Tamez Gonzalez, 76, passed away enveloped in love and light on May 31, 2025, in Temple, Texas, from glioblastoma.
Services will be held at Young’s Daughters Funeral Home on June 13, 2025, at 10:00 a.m., with burial at Sacred Heart Cemetery to follow.
Lupe was born to Maria Rincon Tamez and Sebastian Tamez in Rosebud, Texas, but was raised in Temple, Texas.
A proud Wildcat alumna, Lupe graduated from Temple High School in 1967.
From there, she spent a life of adventure traveling with her husband as a proud Army wife.
Always an active community member, Lupe found fulfillment through volunteering — from VBS to Girl Scouts, from South Carolina to Italy — she bloomed wherever she was planted.
Locally, she settled her family in Killeen and was a beloved employee of Union State Bank for twenty years, known for her smile and friendly demeanor.
Lupe loved her garden and flowers and could often be found on her back porch tending to all her plants.
When not outside, she could always be found crafting and was a regular at the local holiday fairs.
Always excited to continue growing, she loved to travel and take pictures of the world’s offerings.
Her greatest love, however, was spending time with her granddaughter, Natalia Rose Nesmith, whom she cherished above all else.
She is preceded in death by her parents and sisters, Maria Elena Piñon and Rita Rivera.
Survivors include her husband, John Gonzalez; daughters, Deanna Nesmith Gonzalez, Michelle Gonzalez, and Adrianna Gonzalez; siblings, Olivia Soto and Sylvia Maedgen; and her granddaughter.
Arrangements with: Young’s Daughters Funeral Home and Bereavement Center.
