Grace Gallery features art by the artists of Bell Fine Arts

Grace Gallery located at 108 W. Central Avenue opened a new exhibit this past Thursday. The artists are from Bell Fine Arts. Grace Gallery is open Fridays and Saturdays from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. and by appointment. The artists of Bell Fine Arts are Reta Bielik, Sheryl Buchanan, Karen Cringle, Marjorie Curl, Sheron Driessner, Alice Flores, Jo Glass, Joan Hoffman, Pamela Kanaby, Terry Kittel, Harper Lee, Debbie Pope, Corliss Verrett, and Albert Waite. Glass has a piece called Lady with Blue Birds. Holmes has a piece called Low Country Cabin. Waite has a piece called River Lilies. Pamela Kanaby has an untitled piece with gold circles and a dark background. “We paint, crochet, and we are putting together a cookbook. We also socialize and craft,” said Buchanan. Her pieces Deer in the Snow, Watercolor Deer, and Cabin by the Lake among others are at Grace Gallery. “My fifth grade teacher told my mother that I was talented and that she wanted to give me lessons, and I took art classes in her home. Her name was Mrs. Commando,” said Buchanan. “I use pencil, charcoal, acrylic, and pastels. I did clay work in college. I did ink and all different mediums.” Driessner is also on the Grace Gallery advisory board. She has a piece that is of the old Temple Post Office. “Temple was having a contest during National Historic Preservation week in April. It was called the Annual Temple Community Treasures Visual Arts Contest. You have to put your name in a hat in February. They picked 20 paintings,” said Driessner. “I like landscape and seascape. Also, if anyone wants a pet portrait, I can do that for them. Oil is my medium,” said Verrett. “I’m a retired registered nurse and enjoy retirement by painting for fun,” said Teresa Kittel. Artist Karen Cringle is a fourth generation Texan. Her husband, David, encouraged her to paint after retiring from teaching. She enjoys the creativity and support of the Bell Fine Arts community. Bell Fine Arts periodically has classes. They did paintings on rocks and made jelly plates recently. Bell Fine Arts is located at 306 E. 5th Avenue. They have membership paint days on Wednesdays from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. The play mahjongg on Mondays from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m. They have a potluck every second Wednesday at 11:30 a.m. If anyone wants to join they will need to fill out a membership form and pay a fee of $50 per year.
