May 7, 1937 – June 30, 2025
Howard “Carl” Ferris of Belton passed away peacefully on June 30, 2025, after 88 trips around the sun. He is survived by two children in Central Texas, five grandchildren, and three great-grandchildren. He is preceded in death by his parents and brother.
Born and raised in Manitoba, Carl was a civil engineer by trade, working in Ontario, Oregon, and Texas, designing
and managing construction of bridges, dams, roads, and water networks. He loved his family, his garden, and he was
especially fond of all the dogs in his life, particularly Scout and Mandy. He loved the water, and was most happy when he was
fishing, swimming, motorboating, skiing, crabbing, kayaking, or just walking the dogs at Belton Lake. He was a great
swimmer, even into his twilight years, and as a teenager saved his father from drowning. Other hobbies in his retirement
included cursing politicians when watching TV and making sure utility companies didn’t sneak in any superfluous fees. He
was known for his sense of humor.
In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation in Carl’s memory to the ASPCA or the Salvation Army. Memorial service will be held at Hewett-Arney Funeral Home on Saturday, July 12, 2025, at 11 o’clock a.m.

In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests memorial donations be made to Limbs of Life, an organization that provides prosthetics to those in need—an initiative close to Clint’s heart.
The family extends a heartfelt thank you to Dr. Gonzalez, Dr. Morain, Dr. Lynch, and Dr. Chuwu for their compassionate care and oversight throughout Clint’s health journey. As we say goodbye to Clint, we hold tightly to the love he gave, the laughter he shared, and the legacy he leaves behind. His life was a gift, and his memory will forever be a blessing
