“The Pet Extravaganza is the largest pet adoption event in Cen- tral Texas. It is also a large trick-or- treat event. It’s family-friendly and lots of fun,” said the President of Rescue Magazine, Ron Ducharme.
Tickets for adults cost $10 with an early bird discounted cost of $8. Tickets for children cost $5 with an early bird discounted cost of $4. There are V. I. P. ticket options for $20 that offers front of the line admission, a swag bag (while supplies last), and a special photo op with special guest Captain Dan Sparrow. There is free admission for first re- sponders, military, and pets. Dogs must be on non-retractable leashes and have their rabies certificate. Tickets can be purchased on the Rescue Magazine website. Dona- tions are also accepted there.
“The Bell County Animal Shelter will be there to focus on adopt- ing animals. There will also be fun- filled attractions, trick-or-treating with lots of candy, pony rides, lots of vendors, micro-chipping, train- ers, pet care, home improvement, and Captain Dan Sparrow from the U.K.,” said Ducharme. There will be a haunted hotel built onsite, over 80 vendors will be passing out candy for trick or treating, and there will be a cos- tume contest for kids, adults, and pets.
There will be a fun zone with bounce houses and games, a petting zoo, and an eight-foot Bumble Bee.
Volunteers will help with set up, tear down, customer service, games, raffle tickets, and clean up. They will be provided with free tickets to the event, lunch, and refreshments.
There are opportunities for vendors and sponsorships. Nonfor-profit organizations like rescues, shelters, and other agencies have opportunities for free spots. Some sponsors include Pet Angels Cremation, Grand Avenue Theatres, The Belton Journal, Hampton Inn and Suites, Realty Executives, First Convenience Bank, ACH Pest, Walmart, Sam’s Club, Bubba’s 33, Tractor Supply Co., HEB, Petco, Domino’s, Belton Veterinary Clinic, and more.
Rescue Magazine is a free digital magazine that is published every month. They are also a local animal welfare organization that supports local animal shelters and rescues with food drives and adoption events. They donate over 150,000 pounds of food and pet supplies every year. Most recently, Journey Home Rescue thanked Rescue Magazine for their donation of pet food received last week.
Ducharme also hosts KTEM’s News Radio 14 animal hour every Sunday from 11 a.m. to noon, a radio show where animals have a voice. The show features interviews and segments about animal welfare, adoption, and care.
He is also a non-compensated consultant for Bell County Animal Shelter. He is helping with increasing the number of animal adoptions, volunteers, and bringing awareness to the shelter.
