Two days of Christmas stories at the Belton library, for ages three to five
December 25, 2025

The Belton Public Library hosted two Christmas story reading times for preschool-age children on Wednesday, Dec. 17, and Thursday, Dec. 18, at 11 a.m.
Faith Martinez read three Christmas-themed books to the children and led them in holiday songs.
About a dozen kids and their families crowded into the Lena Armstrong Public Library for reading time.
Giggles and gasps were heard as the stories were read. Some parents shuffled about the room with younger children in tow. Martinez held the attention of all with her story reading and questions for the audience to ponder as the stories unfolded.
“Pig the Elf,” written and illustrated by Aaron Blabey, was read first. After the book was read, handheld jingle bell instruments were passed out. Martinez led the singing of “Jingle Bells” two times through.
“A Unicorn Named Sparkle’s First Christmas,” written and illustrated by Amy Young, was read next. At the completion of this book, Martinez led the children in the song “Up On the Housetop,” as they all clapped to the rhythm.
The third book was “How Does Santa Go Down the Chimney?”, written by Mac Barnett and illustrated by Jon Klassen.
Snacks were offered after the final reading.
Juice boxes, small bottles of water, cookies with red and green centers, small candy canes, and peeled apple slices were available. A craft also followed story time.
One option was to create a Santa beard by applying cotton balls to a beard cutout.
The next reading time will be held at the Belton Library on Wednesday, Dec. 31, at 11 a.m.
This will be a Kids New Year’s Eve Countdown, including songs and a countdown at noon.
