The final competition on the FCA Victory Bowl docket was the Red-Blue game in Trojan Gymnasium on Saturday afternoon at University High School in Waco.

The 13th annual game featured a ton of excitement, as Blue team swept the Red team, despite the Reds having a game-point in the second game that Blue overcame with the final three points. The scores of the match were 25-17, 26-24, and 25-21.

Red had three Belton ISD players, with Macyen Doskocil presenting Belton, and Hanna Ward and MyKenna Johnston representing Lake Belton.

There was a bevy of firepower on both sides of the net. Adley Sykora and Keegan Mayhue (West), Emma Peacock and Kaydee Boland (Blum), Blair Keith and Bre Featherston (Crawford), Chloe Tuiasosopo (Copperas Cove), and Michigan Fetsch (Axtell) represented the Red. Ava Lott (Academy), Emma Patterson and Logan Dyer (Bosqueville), McLaren Williamson and Kaydence Lopez (Lorena), Addison Lippe and Kaygen Marshall (Robinson), Jade Washington (Midway), Mikayla Gray (Chaparral), Kailyn Bragg (Blooming Grove), and Molly Waldrum (Evant) represented the Blue squad.

Doskocil and Johnston had two early kills, and Ward added two digs in the first game for Red.

Dyer, who was named the FCA Victory Bowl Player of the Game, had four kills down the stretch for Blue to give them the first game.

Johnston had three kills, and Doskocil added two in the middle of the second game, as Red built a four-point lead down the stretch of the game. However, Blue took a timeout, fought out of a game-point to take seven of the final eight points of the second stanza.

In game three, Blue built an early four-point lead to start and grew the margin to seven points, 19-12.

Red battled their way back to within two points, 23-21. However, Blue received back-to-back kills by Dyer to end the match.

“I thought it was very eye-opening to see everyone’s testimonies and people’s stories,” Doskocil said. “It made me reflect on my own life, what I went through, and my connection to Christ.”

“I found this week very fulfilling,” Johnston said. “It opened my eyes to the new side of Christ that I did not know about. The testimonies that we heard made me understand that my relationship with Christ is not linear. Being consistent every day brings us closer to God that we all love and cherish.”

“This week helped me grow my faith in God,” Ward said. “Those who shared their testimonies with us were so special. We all will take those with us from the week.”

In all, the coaches and players that participated in this year’s Fellowship of Christian Athletes Victory Bowl week took away valuable life lessons, experiences, and were able to reflect to see their bright futures ahead.
