Christmas on the Chisholm Trail will be December 5th and 6th this year.
At 6 p.m. on Friday, there will be a showing of The Santa Clause movie outdoors on the north side of the Bell County Courthouse. The Belton Youth Advisory Committee will be selling popcorn as a fundraiser to support local charities. Hot cocoa will also be available for purchase.

After the movie, there will be a performance by the Sweet Adelines and the annual lighting of the Christmas Tree. The tree lighting will be around 8 p.m.

Free ice skating is part of the Christmas season in Belton, along with Friday and Saturday’s Christmas on the Chisholm Trail.
The ice-skating rink will be open, and there is a winter village just for kids. The ice rink is open from 6–9 p.m. on most days through December 13th. The ice rink has been expanded this year, with more room to skate and more skates to use.
On Saturday, there will be over 100 vendors set up downtown. The vendors will open at noon and close at 7 p.m. The winter village and kid zone will be open with inflatables, face painting, interactive games, and the Lena Armstrong Library will be offering free books through Friends of the Library donations.
Santa Claus will be on hand from noon until 5:30 p.m., and then he goes to feed his reindeer.
The annual Christmas Parade will start at 6 p.m. from Avenue C to East 5th, heading down Penelope Street. There are 60 lighted entries in this year’s parade.
Various local choirs will be performing from noon to 5:30 p.m. on the north side of the courthouse.
“We are turning downtown Belton into a Hallmark center. This is a huge event for our downtown businesses and community. It is a time when the magic of Christmas happens in Belton,” said James Grant, Director of Parks and Recreation for the City of Belton.
“Christmas on the Chisholm Trail really is the epitome of that Hallmark Christmas vibe we all watch on TV, except it’s actual real life here in Downtown Belton,” said Charisse Bennett, Events & Marketing Coordinator for the City of Belton. “There is something for everyone! Plenty of shopping and great food from local vendors as well as our wonderful downtown businesses, free ice skating, a Christmas movie on the square, and great photo ops sprinkled throughout!”
“The movie and tree lighting on Friday night really kicks off the Christmas season in Downtown Belton.”
