Christmas is coming early for animal shelters in Belton and Temple.
The fourth annual Merry Pawlidays Bull Riding Competition will be held Saturday, Dec. 6, at the Cadence Bank Equine Center, on the grounds of the Expo Center in Belton.
Admission is free — with a donation of pet food.
“Bring a bag of dog or cat food, and you will get in free,” said Mike Seiler, owner and CEO of Bullothon Promotions. “We have several animal shelters in need of food, including the Bell County Shelter in Belton, the Temple Animal Shelter and Tiny Hooves Rescue.”

“Temple Animal Shelter has 72 animals and needs food, so I’ve already delivered 500 pounds of dog food to help out, but they need more food,” Seiler said. “We’ve had a dog-food donation of 2,000 pounds from Travis Farr of Outlaw Feed. There’s a big need for feed at our local shelters.”

Merry Pawlidays will feature about 45 professional bull riders, some who are world champions.
“This area has never seen the level of bull riders that will be in Belton on Dec. 6,” Seiler added. “These are the guys you watch on TV, and they will be right here in Belton.”
The event will start with a Thank-You Dinner at 4 p.m.
“We put on several bull-riding events every year, and this is the last one for 2025,” the Belton resident said. “We want to thank the folks who come out to our competitions.”

“People will have the chance to ‘buy’ a bull rider in an auction, and if the rider wins, the person who ‘owns’ him will win money,” Seiler explained with a chuckle.

“This will be a top-level event,” he said. “There will be a lot going on — in addition to the bull riding, we will have lots of vendors selling a variety of items.”
