Council hears CIP presentation

Assistant City Manager Matt Bates and Director of Public Works Scott Hodde presented Belton City Council with a presentation Tuesday night on current and future Capital Improvement Projects in the City.
The presentation included a summary of active projects that are under way and projects scheduled to begin in the near future.
“The purpose of the update is to ensure Council remains informed on project status and progress milestones,” Bates said.
Active projects include the Bell County Water Control & Improvement District No. 1, $27 million; the Temple Belton Wastewater Treatment Plant, $16.8 million; I-14 Water and Wastewater improvements, $2.78 million; the Nolan Creek Force Main replacement, $922,916; and the Pop Shelf Cross Access project, $133,936.
Future projects include the South Connell Street reconstruction project, $9.7 million; the East Central Avenue Bridge replacement, $6.3 million; Rockwool Water & Sewer Improvements, $1.85 million; the South Loop 121 Utility Relocations Phase 2, $1.25 million; the South Penelope & Main Street sidewalk projects, $953,454; West Avenue I drainage, $817,000; and the East Sixth Avenue Sewer rehabilitation, $1.5 million.
The projects were presented as an informational update to allow Council members the opportunity to review the status of the projects, ask questions and provide direction as needed. No action was taken.
