Duffield puts hat in the ring for county judge
January 29, 2026

Ted Duffield, current Bell County Justice of the Peace Precinct 1, has announced his candidacy for Bell County Judge.
Duffield was first elected to his current position back in 1995. At the end of his current term this year, he will not be running for reelection. Over the years, he has been known for his community service in the surrounding areas he serves.
“My priorities as County Judge are clear: strong communication, common-sense decision-making, and responsible leadership. I believe in open and transparent communication with residents, county officials, and the community partners so decisions are understood and government remains accountable. I will use experience and facts to manage growth responsibly, spend taxpayer dollars wisely, and avoid unnecessary bureaucracy. Responsible leadership means staying focused on results, accountability, and efficient county government that works for the people it serves.
“I bring disciplined, practical leadership to public service. My career includes service with local law enforcement and three decades as Justice of the Peace for Bell County Precinct 1. I have managed budgets, overseen court operations, and worked closely with county and state leadership. This experience has prepared me to serve effectively as Bell County Judge,” said Duffield.
Duffield served in the United States Army. He also worked for the Bell County Sheriff’s Department for seven years before becoming Justice of the Peace.
“If I lose on March 3rd, I have done what my heart told me to do by running for Bell County Judge,” said Duffield.
