15-year-old Lake Belton High School student, Hayden Maroney starts off her singing performance at the 15th Annual Bell County Senior Expo with a beautiful rendition of the National Anthem. The community came together for the event to celebrate 250 years of the Army, Marines & Navy’s courage & sacrifice.

On Tuesday, September 23rd the 15th Annual Bell County Senior Expo kicked off with a bang at 8am. The large event was hosted at the Cadence Bank Center (Bell County Expo Center). The Expo had over 200 booths set up to provide seniors of the community with information and resources. It was organized by The Belton Journal, which has been a part of the original sponsors for the past fifteen years. The size of the event has tripled over the past several years.
Liz Bovard, with Embrace Hospice, spoke about the abundance of services and resources provided at the event. “I’m excited about the opportunity that it provides for seniors to get educated and made aware of all the different sources that are provided for them.” She highlighted the networking each business was able to do within the expo, adding “it does a really good job about supporting a community, at a time that seniors really need it.”
The owner of The Belton Journal, David Tuma, stated that “it connects seniors with different organizations and businesses without high-pressure sales, that they might not think about.” These services ranged from funeral homes to gutter systems, all focusing on providing information instead of sales. Kimberly Cables, Favorite SalesGirl and Senior Expo Coordinator of The Belton Journal, elaborated. “We want to provide a stress-free environment where there’s lots of fun, entertainers and speakers. We don’t allow the vendors to sell anything because we want you to just feel like you can get the information and go home and make an informed decision and really take your time selecting your perfect fit.” Tuma added, “And I think you’ll see a really good variety of different organizations and businesses that you can get information from, and that there are other seniors like you.”
An excited attendee, Danielle Moody, raved about the resources and contacts she had made by attending. “We came last year and had a blast! And they give you so much information.” Moody added, “I told my boss, I shouldn’t say this, I told him I had an appointment so I could come here.”
Another booth in the Expo was the Belton Senior Activity Center. The Activity Director, Judy Owens, said about the event “I love it. Just the joy of being out here.” She was excited to see the people who were able to socialize and see each other again, saying she saw “so many sweet people that I would not have known otherwise.”
Cables, who has headed organizing the event for five years, said, “It takes so many people year-round to make this a successful event. We could not do it without our volunteers, sponsors, and all the vendors that spread the word about how wonderful an event it is.” Jennifer Danko of Heritage Funeral Home urged people to attend next year’s event, saying “everybody that was coming out as I was coming in was smiling, everybody was just so friendly and in a good mood. They need to come next year because they missed out.”
The 16th Annual Bell County Senior Expo will be held on September 22, 2026, once again at the Cadence Bank Center(Bell County Expo). In addition, a new event will be held on March 17, 2026. The Inaugural Heart of Texas Senior Expo will be held at the Extraco Events Center in Waco
